The gift of 50 years is a cause for a great celebration. Canossa Health & Social Center (CHSC) in Tondo, Manila celebrated its Jubilee on the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 17, 2023, with a Eucharistic Celebration held in MagVille Chapel, led by Fr. Giovanni Gentilin, FdCC, an Italian missionary to the Philippines who served in Tondo for 21 years. Fr. Rey Daguitera, Vicar Delegate of the Canossian Fathers and Parish Priest of San Pablo Apostol Parish, concelebrated with him.
Fr. Giovanni extolled the zeal and hard work of the Sisters in ministering to this community and the Parish, particularly in the health ministry. If others dreaded this district, he recalled how the Sisters find it a part of the Kingdom of God all through these years. After the Mass, the Jubilee program followed where Sr. Nancy Tagle, Community Leader, welcomed the assembly and cited the services rendered by CHSC these 50 years from its humble beginnings in an apartment to the present premises, with gratitude to all the lay partners, benefactors, volunteer physicians, and volunteer health workers. Sr. Lilia Nuesca, Provincial Leader, shared her inspirational message rooted in the zeal and courage of the pioneer Sisters – M. Maria Fracasso, Sr. Julia Untalan, and Sr. Necitas Guan followed by a cohort of equally zealous Sisters through the years and generous benefactors who put up CHSC. Their examples inspire us to follow them in that life shall not be complete if it has not served without recompense.
During the program, the youth of the Parish rendered songs and music. Sr. Nancy Tagle with Sr. Lilia Nuesca awarded Certificates of Appreciation to all lay mission partners and Sisters who have been supportive of CHSC for many years. The Sisters had raffle draws with exciting prizes. A sumptuous lunch was served to all on the Center premises.
Congratulations, CHSC community. You have seen Tondo in its direst condition since the first community of Sisters began the ministry. Many conditions have improved since then but the needs of the poor remain immense. Your mission to make Jesus known and loved continues with God’s abiding presence and providence among you.

Il dono dei 50 anni è motivo di grande festa. Il Canossa Health & Social Center (CHSC) di Tondo, Manila, ha celebrato il suo Giubileo nella festa del Cuore Immacolato di Maria il 17 giugno 2023, con una celebrazione eucaristica tenutasi nella Cappella di MagVille , presieduta da p. Giovanni Gentilin, FdCC, missionario italiano nelle Filippine che ha prestato servizio a Tondo per 21 anni.
Con lui ha concelebrato Fr. Rey Daguitera , Vicario Delegato dei Padri Canossiani e Parroco della Parrocchia San Pablo Apostol.
Fr. Giovanni ha esaltato lo zelo e il duro lavoro delle suore nel ministero di questa comunità e della parrocchia, in particolare nel ministero della salute. Se altri temevano questo quartiere, ha ricordato come le suore lo hanno vissuto come parte del Regno di Dio in tutti questi anni.
Dopo la Messa è seguito il programma giubilare dove il sig. Nancy Tagle, Community Leader, ha dato il benvenuto all’assemblea e ha citato i servizi resi dal CHSC in questi 50 anni, dai suoi umili inizi in un appartamento fino all’attuale sede, con gratitudine a tutti i soci laici, benefattori, medici volontari e operatori sanitari volontari.
La sig.ra Lilia Nuesca, Responsabile provinciale, ha condiviso il suo messaggio ispiratore radicato nello zelo e nel coraggio delle Suore pioniere – M. Maria Fracasso, Sr. Julia Untalan e Sr. Necitas Guan seguita negli anni da alter suore altrettanto zelanti e generosi benefattori che hanno dato vita a CHSC.
Durante il programma, i giovani della Parrocchia hanno eseguito canti e musica. La signora Nancy Tagle con Lilia Nuesca hanno consegnato i certificati di apprezzamento a tutti i laici partner di missione e alle suore che hanno sostenuto CHSC per molti anni. Le suore hanno fatto un’estrazione con premi entusiasmanti. Un sontuoso pranzo è stato servito a tutti nei locali del Centro.
Congratulazioni, comunità CHSC. Avete visto Tondo nelle sue condizioni più disperate da quando la prima comunità di suore ha iniziato il ministero. Molte condizioni sono migliorate da allora, ma i bisogni dei poveri rimangono immensi. La vostra missione di far conoscere e amare Gesù continua con la costante presenza e provvidenza di Dio in mezzo a voi.
